The Parallel Between Dreams And The Paranormal

Dreams are a series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not fully understood, though they have been a topic of speculation  and interest throughout recorded history. (Wikipedia)
The other night my daughter had a dream. In her first dream she said it was about alot of dead people around her. She woke up and was terrified. Then when she went back to sleep she said she seen her grandpa. She said he had white hair and a plaid shirt on. He was protecting her from all the things that were scary is what she said. The odd thing is all of her grandparents are living. So when we ask her to look at some pictures she looked through alot and came to picture of my grandpa. She immediately pointed him out. He did wear plaid shirts alot and had white hair. He passed away in 1995. That is nine years before she was born. I am sure that she has never seen a picture of him. The thought of a spirit manifesting itself in your dream is more realistic to some than seeing a spirit when awake. It is said a spirit can tap into your subconscious and revel themselves to you and comfort you. There was a study done in England about this and 45% studied said at one time or another they had a dream about a loved one or someone they knew had passed. Even if they were close to the deceased or not. There is one question, how do the spirits get into your thoughts? That is a question that may never be proven by the scientific studies. I guess this will never be answered. The old legend of the old hag on your chest is a wide told story. It is said that you are awaken and are unable to move. There is an old woman on your chest trying to suck the life out of you. This has also been diagnosed as sleep paralysis. This is something I have dealt with my whole life. I never see the old woman but to lay there and be completely unable to move is not a good feeling. The first couple of times it happened I was terrified! Even today it happens and I am not terrified but it still is a very unpleasant experience!! Scientist are still trying to figure out what causes this to occur. I personal believe that this is a way spirits interact with the human world. I believe that it happens to people that do not have the ability to interact with them when awake like a medium is able to. Some believe that dreams are apart of the paranormal world all together. That when you dream it is a paranormal experience. For instance you dream of something and days, weeks, even years down the road it comes true. This is called Deja vu which comes form a french word meaning "Already Seen" Wikipedia definition is "the feeling of having previously seen or experienced something to having dreamt about a similar situation or place, and forgetting about it until one seems to be mysteriously reminded of the situation or place while awake."I guess the question lies in the person to believe the parallel between the paranormal and dreams. So, do you think there is a cross between them?
