SAFETY FIRST!!!!
This is a sad story. Everyone needs to be safe while conducting an investigation anywhere!!! If investigating a location such as train tracks keep walkie talkies on hand and have a team mate on lookout at the beginning of the track. Use common sense and practice safety procedures. Never go alone and always have someone know what is at the location before going. Best thing to do is to search it out during the day.
A good practice for this location would have been knowing a train schedule before heading out to the tracks. Some things can be prevented but accidents do happen.
Always practice safe procedures, use the buddy system, and look out for each other. If an accident does occur then do not leave the scene before help arrives.
In other location here are some safety tips that we use on the THUMPS team:
- NEVER go ANYWHERE ALONE!!! Stay in groups of at least two and stay within talking distance of each other.
- Always have two way radios to stay in touch with other groups.
- Always carry a cell phone. Even though it needs to be cut off so that it does not interfere with the investigation.
- Carry a flashlight with good/extra batteries.
- Have a time when everyone can meet back at base station to make sure everyone is okay.
- Wear the appropriate shoes/clothes. Don't wear flip flops and daisy dukes to investigate a wooded area.
These are just some of the safety rules we use.Safety is a common practice and needs to be observed even in the paranormal world. No one wants to become what they hunt too soon.
BE SAFE AND HAPPY HUNTING!!!!
